Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity
This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were outmatched even for a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Asserted from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
