Brian Eno Urges Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a selection of acclaimed names from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The track features a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The team running the initiative have clarified that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure commented. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and proving that another narrative exists.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
